Hospital patients at every acute NHS trust in England can now view referrals and appointment information through the NHS App.

NHS England said in April 2026 that around 64% of hospital appointments were visible through the app, with many patients also able to reschedule or cancel. Availability still varies by trust and appointment type, so the app should not be described as offering full management of every hospital appointment.

The expansion is intended to reduce missed appointments, paper correspondence and administrative work while giving patients easier access to information about their care.

The NHS App also includes services such as prescriptions, test results and patient records. Further hospital functions are planned as digital services continue to expand.
